Born in California in 1941 and growing up in both Venice
Beach, California and Wisconsin provided some contrast in life style.
Formal education and training in photography was learned in college and
from photographers like Robert Duval and Bill Milare of Los
Angeles. Michael worked in the music business while taking
pictures and having photo shows in the Los Angeles area. His first
serious camera was inherited from his grandfather who loved color
photography and worked in the motion picture film processing business in
Hollywood. Michael's interest in photography was always in
black & white images that depicted the artist moods and the unknown
aspects of humanity. He finds that the simple grey scale range
with contrast provide the best tool for expressing his inner feelings.
Michael traveled in the Americas, Europe and Asia taking pictures while
